Vergence 0.13b released


We've been continuing playtesting of Vergence, which is driving some small and notable changes. 

With Version 0.13b, the mechanics for restoring stress change somewhat, with more limited recovery during rest and scheming phases. The other big change is an expansion of the system for establishing NPC contacts during character generation. It's a little more complicated, but much more flexible and customizable. This fits a game that is so deeply tied to each PC's contacts.

Here is the full change log:

  • Expanded the Basics chapter with more info on player and GM roles as well as a list of chapters and topics. 
  • Changed the stress economy. During a rest phase, PCs restore 4 stress (previously all stress). During a scheming phase, PCs restore 4 stress, or all stress if they take the recover action.
  • Changed and expanded the system for establishing NPC contacts for each PC during character generation.
  • Edited some special ability descriptions for conciseness. 
  • Added information on hiding and finding people or things in the Umbra.
  • Simplified engagement rolls to just 1, 2, or 3 dice.
  • Added more options for resolving PC vs. PC conflict.
  • Expanded GM options for managing consequences that result from a perilous travel roll. 
  • Added some alliance upgrades that increase the amount of stress that is restored during rest. 
  • Added a random table with specific Umbra encounters
  • Adjusted handouts, character sheets, and online character keeper to reflect changes in PC connections and stress mechanics.
  • Redesigned printed sheets to make text larger and more readable.
  • Added quality and scope columns to the Favor and Alliance tracker.
